Pick whatever you like at Rug Bakery in Vesterbro — Some of the city’s best cardamom buns, sourdough, and breakfasts are tucked inside the five-star Villa Copenhagen hotel

Rug began as Villa Copenhagen’s in-house bakery but has become a destination in its own right. Tucked inside the hotel yet open to everyone, the standalone bakery welcomes you to pick up pastries or settle in for breakfast in one of the former Central Post Office’s grandest rooms, where classic forms are reworked to keep the past in circulation.

A team with experience in Michelin-starred kitchens and on the National Pastry and Baking Teams fills the counter with cardamom buns, croissants, pain au chocolat, and seasonal cakes. From the kitchen come folded eggs glossed with brown butter, croque madames, and granola with Søtofte yogurt and jam, with lunch stretching to sourdough pizzas and small plates.
