6-course menu at Gaarden & Gaden in Nørrebro – The world-renowned natural wine bar that serendipitously became a sensational restaurant

When owner Thomas Spelling said Nørrebrogade was the coolest street in the neighborhood back in 2015, it sounded a bit crazy. His decision to open a natural wine bar on what was known as the ‘shawarma belt’ at the time was a wild one. But, where there’s a will, there’s a way, and now, there’s a wine bar that has stood the test of time with a wicked kitchen connected to it. Over the years, the food program has gone from an auxiliary offering to garnering attention in its own right. With mentions in everything from Noma’s Copenhagen guide to The New York Times and The Guardian, this place went from humble beginnings to a food and wine hotspot.

WHAT YOU GET

Enjoy a 6-course menu at Gaarden & Gaden. The menu is chef’s choice, so dishes rotate regularly and reflect the best produce of the season. Start with sourdough bread and romesco sauce topped with spicy chili oil. Bite into seasonal cabbage and creamy bechamel croquettes with bergamot mayo. Savor paprika-spiced octopus with black garlic dressing, herb-infused oil, and fresh coriander. Try jerusalem artichokes prepared three ways, garnished with coffee oil and crunchy toasted buckwheat. Eat steamed leeks with herb cream, browned butter, and crispy fried leek roots. Relish rich carrot risotto topped with escabeche-style pickled mussels and plenty of parmesan cheese.
