They are daring and playful at Lago, and we’re not just talking about the dishes. The highly skilled team behind it has fun with everything they do – the space, the food, and the wine list all attest to that. In the kitchen, Pelle Drews draws inspiration from his time at Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Momofuku, and Geist. His team creates eclectic ingredient-driven dishes using fresh local produce as well as preserves from seasons past, all while maintaining a zero-waste philosophy. The vibe in the dining room is lively, and the panoramic view of the lakes is as intoxicating as the wines.
WHAT YOU GET
Enjoy a 3-course lunch menu at Lago. The menu is chef’s choice, so dishes rotate regularly and reflect the best produce of the season. Taste beef tartare with cognac mayo, cornichons, shallot, and a wreath of fresh herbs. On the side, eat sourdough bread baked in-house and creamy ricotta garnished with lemon salt and herb-infused olive oil. Next, delight in duck confit, eggplant purée, and wintery roasted kale, served atop lightly toasted sourdough bread. End things on a sweet note with a dessert of ricotta ice cream, sponge cake, preserved rhubarb and lemon rind, black sesame, and a sprinkling of burnt corn husk powder.

For several decades, this particular and prized location by Peblinge Sø was home to Thai Pan restaurant, but in 2021, a new team moved in. They revamped everything from top to bottom, and in December of that year, Lago finally opened its doors. Behind it are the good people from Volatil (one of the city's best natural wine shops) and seasoned chef Pelle Drews.
