When it comes to natural wine in Copenhagen, many would say this is where it all began. Just over a decade ago, Den Vandrette opened in an unsuspecting location a few steps from Nyhavn. It’s been a beloved bar for everyone from chefs and sommeliers to art school students ever since. The Rosforth & Rosforth wine importers are behind it, and with 30 years of experience under their belt, they’re undeniably one of the all-time greats in the game. On top of that, a playful and seasonal food menu has put signature dishes like cheesy Georgian khachapuri on everyone’s radar. This revered wine bar and bistro has something for everyone, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down.

Try a tropical and well-balanced white such as Tsitska-Krakhuna 2019 from Georgian winemaker Amiran Vepkhvadze. Sip on something fruity, light, and lively like Claire 2019, a slightly orange Sauvignon Blanc from Le Petit Clos des Vents. Taste Tinto Malbec 2020, a bold and structured red from Estación Yumbel in the Bío-Bío Valley of Chile. To eat, have Georgian-inspired khachapuri flatbread filled with feta, gouda, and cottage cheese. Savor braised pork belly on toasted brioche with hoisin sauce, pickled ramson capers, and coleslaw.
