3-course menu + snacks at Fasangården – Today, this stunning restaurant hidden away in Frederiksberg Gardens opens its doors for the new season

Claus Meyer saw this captivating space in Frederiksberg Gardens and had visions of bringing the 17th-century building back to life as a season-driven restaurant. After careful renovations and the addition of a kitchen garden and chicken coop, that vision became a reality. As you walk up the gravel path, Fasangården comes into view through the trees and invites you to wander inside. Each room charms you with its own distinct character and color scheme. Take a seat and let Chef Christina Rosenberg treat you to a menu of traditional Danish dishes brought into the modern day with seasonal twists. The Michelin Guide’s recommendation attests that this will be an experience you won’t soon forget.

WHAT YOU GET

Enjoy a 3-course menu + snacks at Fasangården. The menu is chef’s choice, so dishes rotate regularly and reflect the best produce of the season. To begin, snack on a tomato tart with stracciatella and romesco, followed by a garden-inspired dish of spring vegetables enveloped in cheese cream and sprinkled with malt hazelnut ‘dirt’. Get grilled white asparagus topped with hollandaise, hand-peeled shrimps, and toasted buckwheat. Savor roasted veal with ginger carrot purée, caramelized onions, and pepper sauce, or, opt for a pescatarian main of halibut in sauce blanquette with spring peas, fresh dill, and pearl onions. Eat sides of baby potatoes with butter sauce and seasonal green salad. Delight in a dessert of lemon mousse topped with white chocolate cremeaux.

+ ABOUT

Dating back to 1682, this historic estate was originally a pheasant farm that provided for King Christian’s royal hunting parties. The building has lived many lives since then, but today is perhaps its most inviting iteration. Whether you have a reservation or are casually strolling by, Fasangården is waiting to be discovered and enjoyed. In the warmer months, the surrounding gardens burst with life, tables are set out in the grass for a lush picnic feel, and petanque is played in the background. When Frederiksberg Gardens closes its gates at sundown in the colder seasons, restaurant guests are given exclusive access to the park and escorted inside by the light of a lantern. No matter the occasion or time of year, Fasangården never fails to enchant its visitors.
