They elevate humble bistro-style dishes to haute cuisine heights and serve them on white tablecloths. Their focus is on the highest-quality ingredients without the sky-high menu prices. In the beginning, many thought such a refined establishment should be in the heart of city center, but they dared to create an oasis in the midst of busy Nørrebrogade. When renowned chef Morten Krogholm asked the young, championship-winning chef Magnus Rosendahl to join him in opening a restaurant that breaks the fine dining mold, Rosendahl replied ‘Let’s do it!’ – and we should all be glad he did. Bistro RK is a Michelin-level restaurant meant to be enjoyed by the everyman.
WHAT YOU GET
Enjoy a 5-course menu at Bistro RK. The menu is chef’s choice, so dishes rotate regularly and reflect the best produce of the season. Snack on arancini-style mushroom croquettes served with blueberry barbeque sauce. Relish rich pumpkin and crab bisque with thinly sliced squid and fresh herbs. Bite into toasted brioche topped with sauteéd chanterelles, shallots, garlic, thyme, and a white wine cream sauce. For the main course, choose a meat option like chicken seared on a yakitori grill, served with kimchi barbecue sauce, ratatouille, and baked herbed tomatoes. Or, opt for a pescatarian option, such as stuffed hake topped with butter-fried brioche, accompanied by a blue mussel Pernod sauce, cauliflower pureé, and poached pointed cabbage. Indulge in vanilla crème brûlée with rhubarb sorbet for dessert, or, if it’s more your style, make a selection from the cheese wagon which gets wheeled tableside.
