True to the name, Gedulgt is well hidden, but if you venture into the backyard of Fredensgade 41 and step through the unmarked green door, you’ll be transported to a different dimension. Here, a visionary, boundary-pushing team serves up cocktails in a manner so fanciful that it might feel as if you’ve found Neverland. With white walls, black ceilings, and marble tables, the sleek interior starkly contrasts the colorful cocktails that look like works of pop art. Despite its somewhat secret location, Gedulgt hasn’t flown under the radar. WHAT YOU GET

The menu is divided into three sections, each with a distinct theme. ‘All Over the World’ features spirits from every corner of the globe, ‘The Beginning of the World’ pays homage to the classics, and ‘Out of this World’ is where the bartenders let their imaginations run wild. Taste a Lost in Japan with Nikka gin and whisky, ginger, pineapple, and buttermilk whey foam. Drink a tropical If You Don’t Like Piña Colada with aquavit, banana syrup, coconut, lime, and a spritz of cilantro essence. Choose an Orange Chocolate Negroni with orange gin, Campari, sweet red vermouth, crème de cacao, and a grated chocolate garnish. Try a slightly savory Smoke on the Water with seaweed-infused bourbon, Vadehavet gin, elderflower vinegar, malic acid, ginger ale, and smoky peat essence. Imbibe an American Beauty with black tea-infused gin, orange flower water, cream, egg white, acacia honey, and raspberry-rose lemonade. Crush a Pop Pop Popcorn with popcorn-washed rum, lime, and black walnut bitters.
