7-course menu at Bottega Estadio in Østerbro – The guys behind Bottega Barlie and Pluto teamed up to create this gastronomic hotspot in a cool stadium-side location
Sports stadium food might usually be synonymous with concession stands, but here in Copenhagen, some seriously high-caliber restaurants are within striking distance of soccer fields. Parken has the world-renowned Geranium in its midst, while Denmark’s oldest athletic stadium has Bottega Estadio. Here, the five friends behind Bottega Barlie teamed up with the Pluto group, which also includes the likes of Gorilla and Maison, to create a gastronomic hotspot with great hospitality at the heart of it. They bring the heat with open-fire cooking, keep things cool with an icy raw bar, and let it liven up in the late night when everyone else in Østerbro is winding down.
WHAT YOU GET
Enjoy a 7-course menu at Bottega Estadio. The menu is chef’s choice, so dishes rotate regularly and reflect the best produce of the season. Start with a serving of freshly baked South American cheese bread and tomato jam, then devour beef birria tacos with pico de gallo and spicy salsa verde. Taste pikeperch aguachile with charred baby corn, pickled habanero, langoustine oil, and lots of fresh lime juice. Eat creamy baba ganoush seasoned with tahini, garlic, lemon, and cumin, served with homemade naan bread hot off the grill. Revel in rich mushroom pozole soup garnished with avocado, crispy totopos, and fresh radish. Savor seared sirloin steak with chimichurri and a side of smoked potatoes with aioli. For dessert, indulge in buttermilk sorbet with figs, plums, and pecan crumble.

They humbly refer to themselves as a neighborhood hangout, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find food and service like this just anywhere. Bottega Estadio revived the historic space in front of Østerbro stadium, elevating it from a convenient watering hole for athletes to a place Copenhageners go out of their way to dine and drink at. Head chef Hernan Landero hails from Argentina, so he’s no stranger to grilling a la plancha. His menus marry in-season Nordic ingredients with masterful Mediterranean and South American cooking. We wouldn’t be surprised to see a few diners ready to give a standing ovation, whether there’s a game on or not.
